Educational guide, not legal or tax advice.
Forming an Arizona LLC does not automatically give the business every license or permit it needs. Arizona licensing depends on what the business sells, where it operates, whether it has employees, and whether the industry is regulated.

- Register with ADOR if required.
- Check city and county licenses.
- Check professional or industry licensing.
- Register employer accounts before hiring.
- Calendar tax and license renewals.
TPT license
Arizona transaction privilege tax is commonly called sales tax, but ADOR explains it is a tax on the vendor for the privilege of doing business in the state.
If business activity is subject to TPT, a license is likely needed. The state fee is $12 per location or business name. Municipal fees can add up to $50 per city or town when applicable.
Remote sellers
ADOR says remote sellers and marketplace facilitators have a $100,000 threshold for Arizona sales. Marketplace sellers selling only through marketplace facilitators may not need their own TPT license.
Employer requirements
If hiring employees, review:
- EIN
- Arizona withholding
- Arizona unemployment insurance
- New hire reporting
- Payroll records
- Workers’ compensation
DES explains that many employers must pay unemployment taxes if wage or employment thresholds are met.
