Tennessee business license
Businesses with more than $3,000 in business taxable receipts generally need a business license from the county clerk and, if applicable, the city official. A minimal activity license is generally used for more than $3,000 and less than $100,000 in receipts and costs $15. At $100,000 or more, a standard license and business-tax registration apply; the standard license fee is also $15.
Sales and use tax
Businesses selling, leasing, or renting tangible personal property or providing taxable services generally need a sales and use tax account. Tennessee says registration through TNTAP has no charge. The general state rate is 7%, with local tax added where applicable.
