Educational guide, not legal or tax advice.
New Hampshire LLC formation does not include every license, permit, or tax account. The $100 Certificate of Formation creates the LLC, but operating legally can require separate DRA, employer, local, and industry steps.
Educational note: This guide is for general informational purposes only. It is not legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. Confirm current requirements with New Hampshire Secretary of State, New Hampshire DRA, NHES, local agencies, and qualified professionals.

State and local layers
New Hampshire DRA identifies targeted licenses for meals, rooms, motor vehicle rentals, tobacco, and other tax programs. It is not correct to describe New Hampshire as having no business taxes or no licenses simply because it has no broad sales tax.
Local zoning, occupancy, health, food, sign, and professional rules can still apply.
Employer registration
New Hampshire DRA says all businesses with employees must contact NH Employment Security. Employer Status Reports, new-hire reports, and wage and tax reports are separate from the LLC formation and annual report.
License FAQ
Does a New Hampshire LLC need a business license?
Possibly. It depends on the activity and location.
Does DRA registration create the LLC?
No. The Secretary of State forms the LLC. DRA handles tax licenses and filings.
Does no broad sales tax mean no license?
No. Meals and Rooms, tobacco, communications, professional, local, and employer rules can still apply.
