Educational guide, not legal or tax advice.

Minnesota LLC formation does not include every license or permit. After filing Articles of Organization, check Minnesota ELicensing, Department of Revenue tax accounts, unemployment registration, and local licensing.

Educational note: This guide is for general informational purposes only. It is not legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. Confirm current requirements with Minnesota Secretary of State, DEED, Department of Revenue, UI, city and county offices, licensing boards, and qualified professionals.

Minnesota ELicensing

Minnesota DEED says Minnesota ELicensing provides information on hundreds of licenses, permits, registrations, and certifications administered by state agencies. Use it when checking regulated activities.

Local licensing

DEED says local governments may require licenses for certain businesses, and some cities or counties may require general business licensing, zoning approval, or industry-specific permissions. Do not assume a Secretary of State filing lets the business operate from any location.
